Hi, my name is Giovanni. Thanks for checking out my massage ad. Massage has been a very important part of my life since my early 20s. It has helped me through a great many things physically, mentally and emotionally. It has also been instrumental in helping me connect to my spirituality. My journey of my own healing has lead me to a fascination in assisting others in their own healing, at whatever level that may be; and has lead me to develop my innate talent for doing so. My training has taken a nontraditional and unorthodox route. I have studied different healing modalities (rebirthing, reiki and various others) and have worked with various healers, bodyworkers and intuitives back in my hometown of Philadelphia. Through this process I discovered a talent for massage and in May of 1993 I started my massage practice in earnest. I made a conscious decision to forego the traditional schooling for massage because I felt that what I had to offer was something unique and organic and needed to evolve naturally from within me. I have never found the formal training environment conducive to the way I operate and learn. I honestly feel that it would impair my ability. Furthermore the most important educational tool has been receiving massages which I continue to do as often as I possibly can. (I'm also a fan of chiropractic and acupuncture and yoga. Bikram Yoga has been a powerful addition in my healing journey over the past few years). After 19 years of experience as a massage therapist I can attest that this has been the correct path for me. My sessions are very individualized and unique. I will spend some time at the beginning of our time together asking you about what your needs are for our session, issues going on with your body, stresses you are under and what you hope to achieve through the session. Feel free to share as much or as little as is comfortable for you. After that I will ask you to undress to your comfort level and have you lie on my massage table (usually face down to start, but that can vary). I have a comfortable, wide, heated table. I have a dedicated massage room that is warm, clean and inviting with candlelight and a vast repertoire of music. Feel free to bring your own music or make a request. I pride myself on the beautiful setup I have for my practice. My massage incorporates elements of deep-tissue, acupressure, swedish and energy work. I can work very deeply or gently. Usually I find a combination is helpful in most sessions as gentle touch helps the body integrate the deeper work more effectively. I allow my intuition to guide me while I work and ask that if anything does that feel right or if you need me to adjust my approach in anyway, please don't hesitate to let me know. My massage comes from two very important aspects of myself: spirituality and artistry. My massage is one of the ways in which I am able to express these things and is one of the great joys of my life. Through these aspects of myself I create a session for your that is very soulful and artistic. I use my body to release tension and make adjustments as I work on you, like an intuitive dance, and often invent new moves to assist in whatever healing is needed. My session is not a rote experience. I remain very present and attentive throughout our time together to give you the best and most healing experience possible. I work in a very stressful health care environment and Giovanni had come recommended by a co-worker. I can't believe I had waited so long! I immediately felt comfortable with him. He is warm and compassionate. I explained my problem areas & concerns about past massage experiences and he immediately got it. There was some brief social talk, but not too much. His massage room was large enough that I didn't feel claustrophobic. He immediately went to work and after an hour I couldn't believe the difference! I literally felt like a different person. I haven't felt this relaxed and calm in I don't know how long! I'm a big guy and Giovanni was able to work and manipulate my body easily. I can guarantee I won't be waiting another 15 years before my next massage. I sat in my car after the appointment in total amazement at how much better I felt, physically and psychologically. A 5 star experience! Giovanni is very knowledgeable and gives a very soothing, yet practical, results oriented massage. I've had many gentle massages and enjoyed them over the years, but I go to Gio because his massages take me into the ZONE; his specialty is identifying and working out knots, connecting your upper and lower extremities therapeutic needs. His balance of stretching and range of motion during the massage feels incredible. Gio has strength and power making easy work of your arms and legs. His deep voice reminds you to relax, breath deep and allow the tightness, tension and toxins to be released through out the massage. From the moment I first called Giovanni he was extremely accommodating and personable, particularly as a it was a last minute appointment and I then had to switch to a later time that evening. It should also be noted that his massage room is very comfortable and clean, a very welcoming environment. As for the massage - and I don't say this lightly - it was one of the most invigorating and relaxing massages I've ever experienced. Giovanni has a very firm yet comforting touch. I would describe the massage as gentle, attentive, thorough and extremely pleasurable. "Heavenly" was the word that kept going through my mind. It went a long way toward alleviating the enormous stress and fatigue I'd been dealing with that week. Giovanni is an incredibly talented and caring masseur and I will definitely go back to see him next time I'm in SF. Highly recommended!
